HILLVIEW, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman is robbed after letting a teenager into her home to use her phone. Many Hillview residents say in the past two weeks a teen girl has come to their door, asking to use their phone.

“If you don't know them, don't let them in your house, cause you don't know what they're gonna do,” said Mona Thomas.

It's advice that comes too little too late.

As the Hillview Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, Thomas says one of her neighbors fell victim to a teen that has been going door to door.

“She said 'Can I come in? It's cold' and 'Can I use the restroom?' She came in and I guess used the phone, went to the restroom and then exited the home,” said Thomas.

Thomas says the teen left with more than what she came with.

“The lady turned around, looked toward her kitchen area where her purse was, noticed it was open, checked it and her wallet was gone,” said Thomas.

Hillview Police say they are aware of this teen but don't know who she is. The department says there has only been one incident of theft.

On Tuesday there was another instance of a teen asking to use a phone. She's caught on surveillance video hanging around Justus Stuck's car.

“There was a girl in my car, looking in my car door and then she frantically shut it and was asking to use my phone,” said Stuck.

After watching the surveillance video from his neighbor's cameras, he believes she never wanted to make a call.

“She was just going through my car while it was sitting there so I didn't know if she was trying to steal it. Whenever I reached into my pocket to get my phone she just took off and left and that was the last time I saw her,” said Stuck.

After Stuck drove away in the video, another person came into camera view, and the two leave. The video shows they were hanging around the house for about twenty minutes.

Hillview police want to remind the community to never let a stranger into your home no matter how harmless the person may look and to lock your doors.
