LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Just after the news that Saturday's game has been cancelled, Louisville City FC announced the signing of English international Charlie Adams Friday afternoon.

Louisville City FC has yet to take the field this pre-season, but the team is still announcing signings as the roster takes shape ahead of the March 28 home opener against Saint Louis FC.

The latest signing, Charlie Adams, comes to Louisville from Championship league side Brentford FC, where he played in the club's youth system from 2010-2012.

The attacking midfielder was promoted to the first team of The Championship league side in March of 2014, before he was sent on brief loan spells with lower level sides Barnet and Stevenage.

According to Brentford FC, Adams was signed to the club's youth team after being “spotted playing Futsal” in a community league.

Adams will join the team next week and will likely take part in the pre-season match against the University of Louisville on March 8.

"Charlie is an extremely talented footballer," O'Connor said. "He has a strong left foot and his delivery on set pieces will make him immensely valuable to us this upcoming season."

Adams' signing announcement comes just after the cancellation of Saturday's pre-season friendly against NCAA Division II side Young Harris College.

According to Louisville City FC, the team is having trouble finding a field that's playable after last week's snow.

The team is slated to kick off against Indiana University Tuesday, March 3, at IU's Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington.

The team has been training at indoor facilities in town, but has struggled to get outside in the winter weather.

The remaining schedule of Louisville City's pre-season:

3/3 Indiana University 3 p.m. at Armstrong Stadium (IU)

3/8 University of Louisville 3 p.m. at Lynn Stadium (U of L)

3/14 University of Kentucky 3 p.m. at UK Soccer Complex

3/17 Lindsey Wilson College 7:45 p.m. at Assumption Green (Champions Trace Ln.)
