Abandoned dogs find new home after finding each other

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- It's a fresh start for Barron and Faith as they walk alongside their new family.

“I saw these two and the story just broke my heart, it really touched me,” Debra Corbett told WDRB News.

Barron was found on the side of a road, sitting next to his dead, frozen companion. Heartbroken and hurting, he was introduced to Faith, who had also been abandoned. Their bond was instant and keeps growing stronger.

“If one is out in the field, the other cries until they get together again so they are very bonded,” Corbett said.

The pair was adopted from the Kentucky Humane Society by Debra Corbett and her husband, Tim on Saturday. As a biology teacher at Assumption High School, she's known for bringing in her dogs and helping her students educate the community on animal issues.

“That's what I'm all about - providing love and care for other creatures,” Corbett said.

When she met the dogs in person, her bond with them was as instant as the one between the new best friends.

“These two need a second chance and they would fit good with my family,” Corbett said.

It's a family that has grown to include five dogs. Corbett says after two of her dogs died, the timing was perfect to bring Barron and Faith into her life.

“It seems like when we have one go to heaven, a couple of months later another dog shows up,” she said.

The husband and wife say it's funny how the universe works, as Barron and Faith now have more than just one another.
