LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 13-year-old and 17-year-old are recovering from gunshot wounds, after being shot in the Shawnee neighborhood.

According to police, the two juveniles were shot on Amy Avenue near 38th Street at about eight p.m. Monday night. The extent of their injuries isn't known, but both are expected to survive.

Police tell us they are not sure if the two juveniles live in the area, but they believe the two are friends.

LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found two black males. Mitchell said one male was 13 and the other was 17.

"From what I understand, they were outside walking and apparently the perpetrators were on foot, and some type of altercation took place where the two individuals were shot."

As always, anyone with information about this crime or any others can call the anonymous crime tip line at 574-LMPD.

Police originally told WDRB the 13-year-old victim was a 10-year-old. This story has been updated to reflect the change.
