POLICE: Louisville man accused of five robberies in less than two weeks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Police have filed additional charges against an inmate already being held at Louisville Metro Corrections.

Matthew Epperson, 23, was already in police custody at Louisville Metro Corrections when authorities filed more charges against him on Tuesday morning.

Epperson is now accused of committing a string of robberies between Dec. 16 and Dec. 28 of last year.

Police say Epperson robbed the Thorntons at 9400 Westport Rd. on Dec. 16, the Speedway at 9416 Shelbyville Rd. on Dec. 23, the Circle K at 9901 La Grange Road on Dec. 24, the Circle K at 9737 3rd Street Road on Dec. 26 and the Speedway at 4547 Taylorsville Rd. on Dec. 28.

Officials say that in three of the robberies, Epperson entered the businesses with a gun and demanded and received cash. He is accused of using a knife in the other two robberies.

Epperson is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $75,000 cash bond.
