Southern Indiana counties lift state of emergency travel advisories

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Southern Indiana got hit first with the winter blast and it seemed to be the first to get a handle on road clearing.

Floyd and other counties lifted the state of emergency Thursday afternoon as road conditions greatly improved.

In New Albany, road crews worked feverishly to clear ice and slush -- and some local advisories remained in place to aid that work.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says I-65 in Indiana is also clear, as crews now focus on clearing emergency lanes.

"Bad last night, got worse this morning, and now it's a lot better," Sellersburg resident Parrish Roberson said. "Floyd County has done a great job."

With main roads under control, Indiana crews also have started on side streets.
