LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A water main break is causing big problems in south Louisville.

The 10-inch main break was reported just after 6 a.m. Friday on Terry Road near Greenwood Road. Part of Terry Road has collapsed in the area, and Louisville Metro Police are blocking the roadway.

The earth below the roadway crumbled and fell away leaving a pipe exposed and a guardrail suspended over the pool of water.

The Louisville Water Company says 28 customers ware without water while the make repairs. Nearby businesses including the Kroger and the McDonald's say they are without water. Louisville Water Company spokeswoman Kelley Dearing-Smith says crews have been dispatched to make repairs. A detour will be in place for much of Friday afternoon.
