LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's your way to give back to the community.

This morning, Mayor Greg Fischer announced the 4th annual "Give A Day" volunteer week, April 18 through the 26.

The week of service helps launch the 2015 Kentucky Derby Festival.

The Mayor says he would like to see every company, organization and citizen take part.

"Our give a day week of service really provides people of all ages, all zip codes an opportunity to come together and express our appreciation for each other help give each other a hand-up, and of course be happy at the same time.

A tractor-trailer of toys and school-related supplies will also be given to school-age children through the Kids Wish Network and its Holiday of Hope Tour, working with JCPS and volunteers.

The Pedal Power Project is looking for bike donations at Beargrass Christian Church on Shelbyville Road. That will provide basic transportation for refugees in Louisville who have fled war-torn nations.
