JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Jeffersontown man is accused of raping a 15-year old girl and police believe he met the victim on social media.

Joseph Waggoner, 27, is the suspect and he never looked up as he made his first court appearance on Wednesday morning.

"Mr. Waggoner. Sir, you're charged with rape in the first degree," said Prosecutor Karl Price.

Waggoner is accused of raping and sodomizing the 15-year old girl several times.

The case is so sensitive and disturbing that J-Town police are not ready to talk about it on camera. However, they did share some of the details with WDRB, including how they suspect Waggoner and the 15-year-old met.

Police believe the two met on social media and exchanged pornographic images via text and Skype. They say Waggoner eventually picked the 15-year-old up at a house in Mt. Washington and drove her to his home on Warson Court in J-Town.

Police say some of those meetings were violent. According to court documents, Waggoner often "grabbed the alleged victim by the neck and told her he was the boss before forcing her to engage in intercourse." The girl eventually told her parents; they contacted police.

Detectives went to Waggoner's home on Tuesday and says he was getting into his Jeep Cherokee when they confronted him with some of the evidence. Police say Waggoner's exact words were: "Oh my God! I am screwed! I am going to jail, I am going to the penitentiary, I am going to the penitentiary for that."

Waggoner was already on probation for a 2013 gun charge. Right now, he is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
