LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Vine Grove man is facing serious charges after police say he ran over a man and failed to stop and render aid.

According to the arrest warrant, it happened Jan. 19. That's when police say Jason Beams ran over the victim.

Police say the victim was helping friends move into a home, when they left the location for a short time and returned. That's when they noticed the defendant seated in a vehicle parked in the driveway. Police say, "the victim stood behind the vehicle in an effort to keep the defendant from driving away until police arrived."

Then police say Beams, "put the car in gear and drove over the victim," causing serious injury.

The victim was taken to the hospital with head and leg injuries.

Police say the victim and Beams "are known to each other."

Beams was arrested on March 11. He's charged with assault and wanton endangerment.
