GM recalls 64,000 Chevy Volts

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- General Motors has recalled 64,186 Chevy Volts because drivers sometimes forget to shut it off. That can be a problem if the car is parked in a garage and the car's hybrid gas engine starts, causing dangerous carbon monoxide buildup.

The Chevy Volt is quit -- perhaps too quiet. Some car owners say they keep forgetting to turn it off because they don't hear it running.

The recall affects model years 2011 to 2013.

A software update will still keep the car quiet but will automatically shut off the vehicle after an hour and a half of idle time. Newer models already have the fix.
