Louisville City announces keeper signing ahead of last pre-season outing

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – With one pre-season game remaining before the home opener, Louisville City FC has officially signed a goalkeeper.

Scott Goodwin, who played college soccer for the University of North Carolina, has been signed as the club's first keeper.

Goodwin comes to Louisville City from NASL side Carolina RailHawks, who play at UNC's WakeMed Soccer Park.

Goodwin earned USL Premier Development League experience while still at UNC and went on to sign with the RailHawks last season.

“We had our eye on Scott for a while,” head coach James O'Connor said. “We had to be patient, but we wanted a keeper who matched every piece of criteria that we were looking for. We found that with Scott.”

Goodwin made eight appearances with the RailHawks in 2014, the first coming in a US Open Cup match against former MLS side Chivas USA -- which the RailHawks won.

Goodwin has already made two pre-season appearances for City and kept a clean sheet in both.

According to the club, he will likely start again on Tuesday when Louisville City takes on Lindsey-Wilson College at Assumption Green for a 7:45 kickoff.

The team will then look toward the season-opening match against Saint Louis FC on March 28 at Louisville Slugger Field.
