LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The Fourth Street location of Bluegrass Brewing Company will officially close at the end of the day on May 1, according to a release.

The location is closing due to the expansion of the Kindred facility located adjacent to Theater Square. Kindred will be undergoing a major expansion on Fourth Street, taking over Theater Square including BBC.

“This is a very difficult situation as most of our employees have been with us for many years. Our customers at Theater Square have also been very loyal and are dismayed about our closing, but are pleased we will reopen in the new Kindred Plaza when finished.”

BBC “hopes to retain as many employees as possible and relocate them to [the company's] other locations,” the company said in a statement. However, employees who don't make the transition will be offered a severance package.

The brewery and pub has four other locations including in St. Matthews, on Main Street, at Clay and Main Streets and a new venture in Crescent Hill.
