Bullitt County Schools survey asking for parents' input on new start times

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bullitt County Schools is looking into changing the time school starts.

A link to a survey was tweeted out by the district's twitter page Tuesday morning.

A committee has been meeting the past few months to discuss concerns for student health and safety.

The district says research and consideration has narrowed down the times to the following options:

  • Elementary -- start at 7:40 and dismiss at 2:20
  • High Schools -- start at 8:30 and dismiss at 3:20
  • Middle Schools -- start at 9:15 and dismiss at 4:10

A release from the district says they took into consideration what "would best serve the needs of our students and our community, recognizing that a change will mean that parents, child-care providers, teachers, and our students will have to make adjustments to their daily routine."

Respondents have until noon on March 25 to take the survey.
