LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An inmate at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville was stabbed by another inmate late Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Kentucky Department of Corrections.

Authorities say 22-year-old Michael Brown was in the prison yard when he was stabbed multiple times by 36-year-old Terry King. Brown was transported to Baptist Hospital, according to the news release, while King was placed in segregation at the prison.

Brown is serving a five-year sentence for first degree Sexual Abuse out of Meade County. King is serving a 40-year sentence for first degree Sodomy, first degree Sex Abuse and other charges, out of Daviess County.

Kentucky State Police are investigating the assault, and criminal charges are pending. Administrative charges will also be filed, according to the news release.
