LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Spellers from all over Kentucky and southern Indiana competed in Louisville on Saturday for a chance to win $10,000.

The 26th annual Kentucky Derby Spelling Bee comprised students from 62 counties.

The bee was held downtown at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.

Spellers participating have won county and school district bees, all leading up to this big final competition.

"I look at all the state spellers, and back when I was their age, I don't think I could have gotten up in front of a crowd like this, with all the lights, and just be great under pressure and try to come up with some very difficult words that we've thrown at them this year," said Chris Murphy from the Kentucky Derby Festival.

The top-5 spellers all received prizes.

The winner received a $10,000 savings bond.
