LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD officers arrested a suspected shoplifter Tuesday after he ran from police in Clarksville, Indiana, damaging a police cruiser as he made his escape.

According to a news release from Clarksville Police, it happened around 11:30 Tuesday morning. That's when police received reports of a man shoplifting at the Walmart on Veterans Parkway in Clarksville.

Police identified the suspected shoplifter as Michael D. Hill with several felony warrants from Kentucky.

Police say Hill ran from store security, then entered a vehicle as other units arrived and tried to stop him. Hill refused to stop for police and took off in his vehicle on 65 south. A unit attempting to stop Hill at the entrance ramp to 65 south was damaged as he attempted to stop Hill.

Hill proceeded on 65 South, exceeding posted speed limits, so officers terminated pursuit. Police say Hill drove through construction barriers, placing other drivers in jeopardy.

Hill was finally stopped in Louisville. He was arrested by LMPD officers, and will be extradited to Indiana to face additional charges, including drug charges.

He remains jailed at Louisville Metro Corrections.
