LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former U of L executive is going to prison for stealing more than $2 million.

Perry Vaughn was sentenced to five years in federal prison Tuesday for tax fraud and embezzlement.

He was fired in September as the executive director of the Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine at U of L's School of Medicine.

Investigators say Vaughn stole checks and patient payments for personal use over almost six years.

Vaughn has also been ordered to pay that money back.
