Indianapolis residents leasing out their homes to NCAA game attendees

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- With most Indianapolis hotels booked for the NCAA basketball tournament, people are opening up their homes to out-of-town guests.

There are almost 150 postings on Airbnb.com.

Prices range from a couple of hundred dollars to thousands of dollars a night.

Basketball fans are looking for anything close to downtown, but there is one drawback: with 16 teams still in the tournament, getting people to commit isn't easy.

"So far it's all been Kentucky fans, so I'm actually really hoping that they make it into the Final Four, figuring at that point there will be a lot of people traveling in," said Colin Dugdale, who is renting a home.

If you plan on looking into this option, landlords are encouraged to require payment up-front and conduct background checks on potential renters.
