LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An 18-year-old Louisville man is accused of helping two other men steal thousands of dollars worth of cell phones and tablets from a kiosk in an east end mall.

According to an arrest warrant, it happened Feb. 26 in Mall St. Matthews on Shelbyville Road. That's when police say Jaquez Robinson, along with two other men, took the phones and tablets from a Sprint kiosk before the mall opened.

One of the suspects is a former Sprint employee who had just been fired the day before. Police say the three entered the mall at 6 a.m. That's when the former employee used his thumbprint to access a safe (his information had not been removed from the system). He took the keys to the cabinet from the safe, and the three took a total of 29 phones, tablets and accessories, then left.

The total value of the stolen property was approximately $20,000.

Detectives with the St. Matthews Police Department obtained surveillance video from a nearby store, and Sprint employees viewed it and recognized the former employee. When police interviewed the co-defendant, he identified Robinson as an accomplice.

Robinson was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on March 27 in the 2500 block of Northwestern Parkway. He's charged with one count of theft.
