LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A known child predator has been accused of rape again -- and the victim is a family member who says she was raped at least 100 times in just five months.

Larry Lewis slept in court Friday, one-legged and wheelchair-bound, though deputies say you shouldn't be fooled by his demeanor.

"I think he's very dangerous to any child he comes in contact with," said Lt. Shannon White of the Spencer County Sheriff's Office.

The 66-year-old man is already a convicted sex offender. State officials say he raped a 14-year-old in Nelson County and got out of prison in 2002.

Lewis was arrested again in Taylorsville, wanted in part for not reporting where he was living -- but deputies say they soon learned his crimes are far worse than that. Deputies now believe he never stopped abusing kids.

"The severity of this case is so significant, and to hear it, to hear the details and the evidence that we have, it is overwhelming," White said.

A now-18-year-old family member has come forward saying Lewis raped her most of her life, starting around age 5. The charges in Spencer County are from July 2012 to January 2013 -- 100 times in five months.

"I could have charged him with many more counts than that," White said. "It was every day, multiple times some days."

It's touched off a massive investigation, with police looking in at least four other counties -- Jefferson, Spencer, Bullitt, Shelby and Floyd -- where the known child predator lived after prison.

"I want the public to look at Mr. Lewis' photo and think to themselves, 'Did my children have interaction with this man?' because being that he was a non compliant sex offender, that is a concern to me -- that there could potentially be other victims," White said.

WDRB's Gilbert Corsey caught up with Lewis as he was being wheeled into court.

"Do you have anything to say?" Corsey asked.

"No," Lewis said. "I just want to hurry up and get this over with."

Lewis' defense team canceled this preliminary hearing and waived the case up to Spencer County Circuit Court, telling Corsey that it was a tactical decision, and reminding the public that Lewis is innocent until proven guilty.

Lewis faces 100 counts of rape and 100 counts of sodomy, and for now, he is in a familiar place: behind bars.

"Are there any other victims out there sir?" Corsey asked him.

"No, I don't want to talk no more buddy," Lewis said.

Investigators say this all started when the victim was very young, and that emotional and psychological scaring played a role in her continued abuse.
