NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- New Albany firefighters rescue a woman trapped on the top floor of a burning house.

The fire started around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday on East Market Street near East 18th Street.  Viewer Robin Carte shared video that shows the intensity of the flames.

Firefighters were able to make it to the second floor to rescue the woman.  She was later taken to the hospital.

New Albany Fire Battalion Chief Matt Hunter says "she was actually in there talking to our dispatcher on her cell phone. Kind of telling us exactly where she was.  We had heavy smoke. It was kind of hard to find her, but we did eventually get to her."

Officials say the fire started in one house and later spread to another house because of high winds. The cause is still under investigation.
