LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've a arrested a man who tried to rob a woman while she was pumping gas.

It happened just before 11 p.m. on Friday at the Circle K gas station on Preston Highway, near the interchange between I-65 and the Watterson Expressway.

Police say a woman was pumping gas when a white male with an unshaven face and wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt approached her, pointed a gun at her and demanded that she give him her purse. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to shoot her. Police say she refused again, and the man got into a silver Mazda and drove away.

The woman was able to take a picture of the vehicle as it drove away.

Police say they were able to track the registration of the vehicle to a home on Farmdale Avenue, not far from the scene. When they arrived at the home, they say they found the exact same vehicle in the driveway.

Officers arrested 34-year-old Andrew Pierce and charged him with first degree attempted robbery.
