Kentucky basketball heads to Final Four with confidence, campus support

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky is heading to Indianapolis for the Final Four undefeated, but the team had a final press conference on a very excited campus before leaving town in search of the school's ninth national championship.

During the last press conference with players before heading to Indy, Dakari Johnson, Aaron Harrison, and Karl-Anthony Towns spoke about what they need to do to win the national title.

“Playing with energy and helping each other on defense and having each other's back,” sophomore center Dakari Johnson said of his team's focus.

They admit, Notre Dame gave them a close call on Saturday, but say the close games have made them stronger.

“I think every great team has been in close games. No one has ran through a whole tournament or series. You have to prove you can win tough games to be a great team,” sophomore guard Aaron Harrison said.

They're now ready for a rematch with Wisconsin in the Final Four.

“We do have a chip on our shoulder and we have a lot to prove,” Harrison added.

Kentucky takes on Wisconsin Saturday night in Indy. If the winning streak continues, you can bet campus will be crazy and there will be extra police on patrol.

Signs splashed all over houses near campus show fans are ready for the weekend's Final Four game.
