LMPD investigating two deadly shootings; victims identified
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The Louisville Metro Police are investigating two homicides from late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
The first incident happened near the intersection of 18th Street and Rowan Street in West Louisville, according to officials.
The coroner confirms the victim, 44-year-old David Johnson of Jeffersonville, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:17 a.m.. Officials say Johnson was found in the middle of the street near the intersection.
He died of a single gunshot wound.
A second man, 19-year-old Ray Joseph Jr., was killed after another shooting. A call about that second shooting was received around 12:40 a.m. Sunday.
Joseph was found by police in the area of 40th Street and Grand Avenue. Officials say two other victims were also found shot in the area. They were taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the shooting happened after an altercation.
Two more people were also shot in the second incident, according to LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley. Those two victims were located at 28th Street and Dumesnil Street.
Investigators are searching for suspects.
