LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man accused of taking part in a home invasion in March that sent two people to the hospital was arrested yesterday.
According to court documents, it happened around 2 p.m. on March 13 in apartments located at 225 N. Clifton Avenue near lower Brownsboro Road. That's where police say 19-year-old Michael A. Winters, along with four other suspects, entered the victims' residence armed with guns. Police say the suspects used the guns to beat a male victim in the head, face and body, while holding a gun to the head of a female victim.
Police say the suspects grabbed a puppy and a cell phone as they were leaving the apartment. That's when police say they ran into another male victim who came out of a neighboring apartment when he heard the commotion. Police say one of the suspects used a gun to hit the victim several times in the head.
The victims were treated at a hospital for lacerations.
The victims told police they were acquainted with two of the suspects and provided investigators with descriptions and Facebook photos. Police then identified two of the suspects as Demetris Bruce and Michael Winters, known to the victims as "Miles Demetre" and "Mikey."
Winters was arrested late Monday night. He's charged with three counts of wanton endangerment, two counts of assault, and one count of burglary. He remains jailed at Metro Corrections on a $50,000 cash bond.
