LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- US 31 is shut down near Henryville after a drainage pipe collapsed under the roadway Thursday afternoon.

The road flooded in both directions with as much as three feet of water in some places.

It happened just before 5 p.m. and road crews have now closed US 31 to all traffic in the area.

The water has now receded, but there is still a large hole in the pavement.

Drivers should use I-65 as a detour between Henryville and Scottsburg.

There's no word on when this will be repaired, but crews don't think the highway will be fully open to traffic within the next 24 hours.
