LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Clarksville Police say they have arrested a man after a non-fatal shooting at an area hotel.

It happened at the Best Inn Motel on Eastern Boulevard, near the intersection with Kopp Lane, just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, according to a news release.

Police say they received a call reporting gunshots at the motel. Clarksville Police, along with members of the Clark County Sheriff's Office, the Indiana State Police and the Jeffersonville Police Department, all responded to the scene.

When they arrived, police say they found a man with a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen area. That man was taken to University Hospital.

According to the news release, several witnesses gave police a description of the shooter, as well as the direction he fled.

Police say that suspect, Corey Lee Daffron of New Albany, was found hiding in a second-level motel room with a woman. A detective at that location was able to call Daffron and persuade him to give himself up.

Daffron had outstanding warrants for unrelated crimes, according to police. He has also been charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting at the motel.

He is currently being held in the Clark County Detention Center.
