LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Shively street was named Sunday after a local pastor and former civil rights leader.

Street signs were unveiled at Greater First Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Shively on Sunday afternoon.

The ceremony honored Dr. H.G. Hollins, who founded the church.

The church's administrators say they wanted to do something to thank the pastor for all he has done for the church and the community.

"He's given blood, sweat, and tears to the people and as well as this church, so again, we wanted to do something befitting of a man of God, who's been anointed to preach the gospel," said Rev. Joseph Wood, Associate Pastor at Greater First Peter Missionary Baptist Church.

"So his name would continue to live on even after the days are gone."

Hollins has been church's pastor for 52 years.
