Woodford Reserve now offering $1,000 Mint Juleps

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's a long-shot for most budgets, but the 2015 $1,000 Mint Julep has been unveiled.

This year's drink will be made with one of Kentucky's finest bourbons: Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It will contain chocolate mint sprigs and coconut palm sugar syrup and be served in an individually numbered cup and gold plated straw created by fashion designer Billy Reid.

In addition, 10 gold-plated 'Winner's Circle Cups' are available for $2,500.

This year, proceeds from the mint juleps will go towards the 'Wounded Warrior Equestrian program.'

"We work to raise awareness of the healing powers of horses and we raise awareness for equine therapeutic programs and horse rescues around the United States," said Bridget Kroger of the Wounded Warrior Equestrian Program. "Currently we are in 17 states and we have 23 programs and farms operating under our brand."
