Reward offered for information on stolen explosives

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities investigating a theft of explosives from a construction site are now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

The Louisville division of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced the reward Wednesday night.

ATF agents and metro police are investigating the theft of explosives from a construction site adjacent to Norton Commons between Friday, April 10, and Monday, April 13.

An ATF news release says the site is near the intersection of Kentucky 1694 (Brownsboro Road) and Chamberlain Lane in northeast Louisville.

The theft was reported Monday.

The explosives are described as "a type of dynamite that is packaged in cylindrical wrappers made of material like waxed paper or plastic," the release said. The incident is described as "a theft of explosives from an explosive magazine."

ATF offers the reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the theft.
