AUSTIN, Ind. (WDRB) -- The Austin Community Outreach Center is extending its hours of operation.

Hours on Tuesday and Friday evenings have been extended to 8 p.m., with the Center opening at 10 a.m. on those days.

The later hours have been added in response to community input and will continue to help make the center and its services accessible for people who need services.

The Center's new hours are:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuesday and Friday - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday - 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

"With suggestions and feedback from the citizens of Austin, we decided to shift the time on Tuesdays and Fridays to later hours," said State Health Commissioner Jerome Adams, M.D., M.P.H. "We want to be responsive to community needs. Based on local input, we believe that more people will be able to access services being provided at the Community Outreach Center."

The Community Outreach Center, location of the One-Stop Shop, is offering a variety of services, including:

· Access to state-issued ID cards and birth certificates

· Enrollment in the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) 2.0 insurance

· HIV testing

· HIV care coordination

· Substance abuse referrals

· Vaccinations to prevent tetanus and hepatitis A and B

· Job training and referrals through the Indiana Department of Workforce Development
