LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hardin County schools is offering a new program to help its students with substance abuse.

The program will be offered at the Brown Street Education Center and will include counseling and education for both at-risk students and students already dealing with substance abuse.

There will also be coaching for parents.

Brown Street Principal Robert King says it's something he's wanted to bring to the district for a long time.

"We have to try and find a way avoid those factors so they can learn and build a future for themselves because if they're addicted to something, no matter how great the academic intervention is, they're not going to be able to receive it," King said.

Hardin County is partnering with Our Lady of Peace for the program, which is set begin next month.
