LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man officials say fired a gun multiple times and hit a victim with one of the shots.

Malcolm Dickerson was arrested in the 600 block of South 40th Street, near River Park Drive. He was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections early Monday morning.

Police records say that Dickerson went to a home in the 1700 block of Wilson Avenue, near South 17th Street. Police state that Dickerson knocked on the front door, looking for his child's mother.

Authorities say the victim opened the door and Dickerson then fired four to five bullets into the door. One of the bullets hit the victim in the upper torso, according to police.

The police report says Dickerson fled from the scene and his vehicle was later located by LMPD officers.

Officers say Dickerson led them on a 10-minute chase. Official police records state that Dickerson crashed his vehicle into a house in the 4000 block of Broadway causing damage to that home.

The police report says Dickerson then crashed his vehicle into another home and a vehicle. Police say the damage totaled more than $1,000.

Officials say following the crashes, officers chased Dickerson across West Broadway.

Police say Dickerson was found hiding under a tree on South 40th Street. Police records indicate that he was armed with a stolen .45 caliber handgun, that matched with bullets that were found at the scene of the shooting.

Police have charged Dickerson with assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and fleeing from police.
