Clarksville High School teacher arrested for attempted child exploitation

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Clarksville Police arrested Clarksville High School teacher Scott Schermerhorn Monday, charging him with attempted child exploitation. 

Schermerhorn is the Clarksville High School teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with one of his female students.

Last week, he was suspended in the midst of allegations of "inappropriate electronic communication" with a student. Police also had subpoenaed Schermerhorn's text messages, social media account and his computer.

Schermerhorn is accused of sending and requesting inappropriate messages and images from one of his female students.

Note: According to the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Schermerhorn is charged with attempted child exploitation, a level 5 felony. A previous version of the story listed the charge as child exploitation. The story has been corrected.
