LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man officials say robbed a Dollar Tree store.

Edward Fletcher, 41, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say he robbed the Dollar Tree store located at 10309 Dixie Highway, near Vesper Lane.

The official police report says the robbery happened on Sunday around 7:15 p.m.

Authorities say Fletcher entered the store, selected merchandise and went to a register.

Police say he proceeded to get behind the store clerk and "pressed something into her back" and told the clerk to not speak.

Officials say he threatened to shoot the clerk and told her to open the register.

Police records say Fletcher took the money and left the scene in a white Lincoln.

Investigators say Fletcher admitted his involvement in the robbery in a taped statement.

Authorities say he also called the store and apologized to the victim before he was arrested.

Fletcher is charged with robbery and he is being held on a $10,000 cash bond.
