Police search for info after man hit by several vehicles following fall from from Outer Loop overpass

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police now know the identity of the person who died after being hit by several cars on Interstate 65 near the Outer Loop Thursday night, but they aren't releasing it to the public just yet.

It happened around 10:30 Thursday night. Investigators say the victim's body was in pretty bad shape by the time police arrived at the scene. Now they're trying to determine exactly what led to his death.

Police say the man fell, jumped or was perhaps even pushed onto Interstate 65 from the Outer Loop overpass.

"It does point to that he was at the Outer Loop overpass and either fell or jumped, or another situation could have happened," said LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell. "But we know that at least he either fell or jumped onto I-65."

The victim was hit by several vehicles after the fall.

"Of course it was very dark at that time, nobody may have known what they even hit or if they did or not," Mitchell said. "I believe there was one truck driver that did call that thought he hit something in the roadway at that point, but had already gotten to his destination."

Investigators want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything in the area Thursday night. If you have any information, you're asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 502-574-LMPD (502-574-5673). All calls are anonymous.
