LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Nate Haney announced his resignation Saturday as Chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party Executive Committee.

"With my third child on the way in July, coupled with the growth of three of my businesses, I must step down to provide the appropriate attention to these more important personal obligations," Haney wrote in a resignation letter.

Haney, who has been chairman since September 2013, says his time in office has given him even more confidence in the Republican Party and what it stands for.

"I am proud to have worked with wonderful people on and off the committee who helped shape the last two years into positive outcomes and have set our local party up for certain success."

The Jefferson County GOP will appoint a search committee to find a new chairman.
