Jeffersonville police arrest suspect after brief chase, K-9 bite

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Police say a K-9 took a bite out of a man trying to run away at the end of a police chase in Jeffersonville.

Video shot by neighbor Robert McDonald shows the police cars as they followed the truck into a field off Lutz Lane.

"He just floored it for everything the truck had. It seemed like he was just 'do or die,' and he was going to get out without being caught," McDonald said.

Officers later arrested 44-year-old Richard Franklin of Jeffersonville and took him to a hospital to treat the dog bite.

Franklin's charged with resisting law enforcement and battery after police say he dragged an officer a few feet and sped away from a traffic stop at a restaurant on Tenth Street.

Police say two officers were slightly hurt.
