LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- About ten businesses along Bardstown Road were spray-painted over the weekend.

The side of Dairy Mart, at the intersection of Midland Ave and Bardstown Road, was tagged with big bubble letters.

“It looks so bad for the community and here,” said owner Aamir Qureshi.

Qureshi has surveillance footage that appears to show movement across the street, where another building was tagged. About forty minutes later, you can see two people walk in front of Dairy Mart. Qureshi believes they were involved.

Ralph Weible, who is a part of the Highland Commerce Guild's graffiti abatement program, spent time Monday and Tuesday painting over the graffiti at some of the businesses affected, including Dairy Mart.

“When customers, people from out of town and even residents see the graffiti, it's a detractor,” Weible said. “It puts a black eye on the corridor.”

He says the brick buildings make the removal process even more tedious.

“They hit just about every building in this area,” said Weible. “It takes me a week to make go away what these guys did in an hour.”

District 8 councilman Tom Owen spent some time Tuesday surveying the damage. He wants to see the tags removed as soon as possible.

“The longer it lasts the more as it is an invitation to do it again,” Owen said.

Owen is asking LMPD to review security footage in hopes of finding those responsible.

As the black bubble letters slowly begin to disappear, Qureshi hopes he won't have to ask Weible to come back again.

“I hope that's the last time,” Qureshi said.
