Louisville, KY (WDRB) – NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick appears to be picking up where he left off last season. The defending Sprint Cup champion is currently leading the points race as the series heads to Kansas this weekend.
Harvick made a pit stop in Louisville on Wednesday as part of a promotional appearance at the grand opening of an Ollie's Bargain Discount store on Westport Road.
The driver of the number 4 Chevrolet said recently he would like to see NASCAR shake up the schedule, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he thinks tracks should get two events, including Kentucky Speedway, which will host the Quaker State 400 in July.
“If you look at the grandstands and the grandstands aren't full, there is no way you should have a second race,” Harvick said of the NASCAR venues. “There's a lot of different places you could look at going and I think Kentucky's good with one race.”
Harvick splits time with Louisville-native Ben Rhodes in an Xfinity Series car. Rhodes is scheduled to make his Xfinity Series debut next month.
