LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville residents had a chance to do some spring cleaning Saturday and help the community.

Free Responsible Recycling was held Saturday morning at Louisville Water Tower Park.

The event was free for residents to participate in and was set up as a drive-through event.

Anything from shoes and building supplies to paper and batteries were accepted.

"A lot of these things would just end up in the landfill," Metro Councilman Bill Hollander said. "If there is a wheel chair that can be put to use in a country that doesn't have access to good medical equipment through supplies overseas, we'd like to facilitate that anyway we can."

Habitat for Humanity, Interstate Batteries and Supplies Overseas were all on hand to collect the recycled supplies.
