LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Members of the Neighborhood Planning & Preservation group say they're taking a stand to save a historic building.
They say they want to see the old Louisville Water Company building remain downtown. It's currently part of the block set to become a new Omni hotel.
“We're concerned that the law is overstepped by our government,” said Martina Kunnecke, the president of the Neighborhood Planning and Preservation. They're supposed to be honoring the law and enforcing the law. We're concerned that our government owns buildings it doesn't take care of and has a tendency towards demolition by neglect."
The group is asking people to sign a petition campaign to save the old Water Company building and Odd Fellows Hall.Friday's petition drive is part of the group's "These Places Matter" campaign.
