LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Officials have identified the man who died Saturday morning after a multi-vehicle accident on I-64 east in Shelby County. Police have arrested the driver of one of the cars involved in the crash.

Authorities say 27-year-old Luis Espinoza Carranza, of Lexington, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested 23-year-old Rosendo Rodriguez-Fuentes, who is also from Lexington, in connection with the crash. He is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, wanton endangerment, not having an operator's license and failure to maintain insurance. He is being held at the Shelby County Detention Center.

The crash happened around 4:46 a.m. Saturday, near mile marker 30.

Investigators say Rodriguez-Fuentes was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi that was traveling east on I-64. Carranza was a passenger in the Mitsubishi, according to police.

Police say Rodriguez-Fuentes hit a 1998 Oldsmobile, that was disabled in the right emergency lane. The Mitsubishi spun into the interstate, before coming to a stop in the middle lane of I-64 east. Officials say Rodriguez-Fuentes got out of the vehicle and received assistance from another driver in an effort to remove Carranza from the vehicle.

The Mitsubishi was then hit by a 2000 Ford, according to officials.

Rodriguez-Fuentes was initially taken to U of L Hospital after the crash, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was taken to Jewish Hospital Shelbyville to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office accident reconstruction unit.
