LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman has been arrested weeks after police say she drove her car onto a public sidewalk in an attempt to hit a woman and her two children.

According to an arrest warrant, it happened on March 16 on Cedar Court, near Roy Wilkins Avenue and W. Jefferson Street.

Police say the victim and her two children were walking to a neighbor's house when the woman saw 25-year-old Jasmine Sharince Clay -- a former neighbor -- behind the wheel of a vehicle that was coming toward them.

According to the warrant, the victim says Clay drove off the street and onto the sidewalk they were walking on.

Police say the woman felt that her life and the lives of her children were in danger. The three of them got out of the way, and Clay drove her vehicle back onto Cedar Court.

On Wednesday, March 18, a warrant was issued for Clay's arrest, and she was taken into custody just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19.

She is charged with first degree wanton endangerment.
