LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Matt Bevin declared victory in a speech to supporters Tuesday night, saying he looks forward to running against Jack Conway in the fall.

"How about this race," he began. "For those of you in the media who thought that Republican politics in the state of Kentucky was dead and was boring, think again. Think again."

Bevin praised his running-mate Jenean Hampton of Bowling Green, saying she worked her way through college with a job at General Motors.

"We are Kentucky," said Bevin. "We are black, white, male, female. We are Kentucky."

He then asked those who love Kentucky to come on board and support him in the race for Governor. Bevin also congratulated Conway on his victory and said he looks forward to civil discourse in the fall.

He got the crowd to chant "We are Kentucky" before finishing.
