UPDATE: St. Matthews Police say Car Wash employee hit by train has died

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- St. Matthews Police say a person hit by a train Thursday has died. 

We're told it happened at the railroad tracks near Chenoweth Lane and Westport Road. 

A spokesperson for St. Matthews Police says a white male in his 20s was walking on the tracks when he was hit by the train. He was taken to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Detective Dennis McDonald said the man later died at the hospital.

Police say he is an employee of St. Matthews Car Wash.
