LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The Boy Scouts held their annual American flag ceremony at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery on Saturday.

The scouts from the Lincoln Heritage Council paid tribute by raising an American flag and putting smaller ones beside headstones.

Congressman John Yarmuth helped too, adding that we must remember the sacrifices made for our country.

"I think it's important for young people to recognize the value of their country, respect their country and also to be good citizens," he said.

"And I think this demonstrates that they're on the road to becoming very good citizens."

Yarmuth says Memorial Day isn't just about the past, but also the men and women still giving their lives today.

Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and local volunteers also took part in Saturday's service.
