LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Nearly two weeks ago, seven-year-old Ally Rednour was dragged 500 feet by a JCPS bus after her backpack was caught in the door.

"I jumped in the car and I didn't really know what I was going to do. I just went after it because they couldn't hear so I was just going to hit the horn so maybe they could hear or get the bus driver's attention," said witness Matthew Lundergan.

Lundergan says he was inspecting his tires when he saw the bus drive by.

“I didn't realize it at first,” Lundergan said. “I didn't know why people were yelling and I didn't see the kid until two or three seconds later.”

Multiple 911 calls poured in. One in particular illustrates just how lucky Rednour was. The 911 dispatcher could faintly hear Rednour in the background asking for a band-aid.

Caller: There's a little girl who just got dragged by a bus.

Dispatcher: She just got what?

Caller: Dragged by a bus.

Dispatcher: Is she awake?

Caller: Yeah she's awake.

Dispatcher: Is she breathing?

Caller: Yes

Rednour: I want a band-aid.

Rednour suffered only minor cuts, scrapes and road burns.

A fundraiser is scheduled tomorrow to help with Ally's medical bills. It will take place at Khalil's restaurant from 5-9 p.m. on Dixie Highway.

“I could hear her crying and saying she wanted her mom. It was a little bit of relief,” Lundergan said of seeing that Rednour was okay.

The Rednour family also set up a GoFundMe, which has already raised more than $1,500 out of the $5,000 requested.

JCPS driver Melinda Sanders has been suspended without pay while the incident is investigated.
