Update: 9:40 p.m.:

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet corrects an earlier statement, the Interstate remains closed. Kentucky State Police say Interstate will remain closed for about another hour.

Update 9:10 p.m.:

Interstate 65 reopened at Mile Point 103 just after 9 p.m. Wednesday night. Traffic was still backed up to Exit 112 when it reopened, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

KY-61 was also backed up several miles on the way into Lebanon Junction from Shepherdsville.

KYTC recommends drivers seek alternate routes for the next couple of hours as traffic will take time to subside.

Original story:

It happened at the 102 mile marker. All southbound lanes are closed, according to Kentucky State Police.

Traffic is being detoured off at Exit 105 south onto Kentucky 61, and rejoins I-65 in Elizabethtown.

Kentucky State Police says three people were taken away in ambulances from the crash, but their conditions are unknown.

The closure is expected to last until about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
